Welcome!
This is the companion website for our bushwalking book, A Day in the Bush. Users of the book come here to get walk updates, plant spotting guides and other resources as well as news and views about bushwalking.
The site is also about the message that connecting with nature – even in small doses – can improve your quality of life. Les regularly discusses this important and topical message in his blog, ourgreengenes.wordpress.com.
Just as science is telling us that experiencing nature enhances our physical and psychological well-being, most of us are losing touch with the natural world and allowing our children to run the risk of what Richard Louv calls nature-deficit disorder. This is scary.
But it does not have to be this way. Explore the website and read A Day in the Bush to discover how easy and convenient it is to re-connect with nature while enjoying Sydney’s varied and attractive bushland at the same time.
What’s more – it is a book that you can keep up-to-date. Just visit the Updates page regularly.
